1940s Film Quotations
The 1940s saw the bulk of World War II and the death of millions. On film, the public saw the most influential film of all-time, Citizen Kane. At the end of the war, tension was still great in many areas around the world, especially Asia which saw decolonization. However, much of the West saw a post-World War II boom in their economies that lasted until the 1970s. The 1940s saw the rise of the microwave oven, Tupperware, Velcro, the frisbee, jet aircraft, radar, the jeep, and the commercialized television set.
