Romantic Classical Movies for Valentine's Day

Many of the classic romance films are forgotten when it comes to Valentine's day. These classic movies bring a romantic aura that many of the newer films have failed to accomplish. The following classic movies are not only great film choices for women, but they are also flicks men can enjoy.

Roman Holiday
A bored princess (Audrey Hepburn) escapes her daily routine in Europe. Due to a sedative, she passes out and is found by an American journalist (Gregory Peck) who doesn't recognize her. He brings her back to her apartment and sets out to cover the Princess Anne conference only to find she is on his couch asleep.

Sleepless in Seattle
A recently widowed man's son calls a radio station in attempt to find himself a mother. As a result, hundreds of women write letters for a chance of meeting. One woman is currently engaged, but goes at great lengths in order to meet the father.

Titanic
A fictional tale about a rich woman on her way to Philadelphia to marry her fiance and a poor man who won a ride on the 'unsinkable' ship from a card game. As the boat floats across the ocean the two begin to fall in love and finally peak before the ship sinks.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding
A Greek woman with a strict upbringing is persuaded to marry a nice Greek boy. She has other plans and wants more out of life. She takes a college computer course and takes over her aunt's travel agency, then meets an English high school teacher, a non-Greek.

Some Like It Hot
Two musicians witness the St. Valentine's day murder and decide it is best to leave town before the mobsters find them. However, the only way out of town is to take a job with an all girl band. There's two problems, one: they are both men. and two: a beautiful woman wins their hearts.

Casablanca
Rick Blaine, an exiled American and former freedom fighter, runs the hottest spot in Casablanca during WWII. He comes in position of two letters of transit and plans to sell them, but after seeing his lost love he changes his mind.

Grease
A musical placed in the 1950s about greaser Danny Zuko and Australian Sandy Olsson who fall in love. After summer is over Danny returns home thinking he will never see her again. However, when school starts they both attend Rydell High. One problem, Danny hangs with the greasers and Sandy with the Pink Ladies, pink-wearing girls.

Peggy Sue Got Married
Peggy Sue who is facing divorce faints at her high school reunion and is given a chance to change the course of her life. However, she finds herself making many of the same choices and finds her life isn't so bad after all.

Gone With the Wind
This classic film narrates the love and passion between Scarlett O'Hara and Rhett Butler during the American civil war.

The Sound of Music
Based off a true story, a woman leaves the convent to become governess of seven children. As Nazi, Germany becomes stronger her, the children, and their father (whom she falls in love with), decide it is best to leave the country.
