Tootsie is a romantic comedy drama film about an unemployed actor who dresses up as a woman to try and get a role in a soap opera. The story follows Michael Dorsey who is difficult to work with. After months without a job, Dorsey hears that there is an opening for a soap opera, but he is not hired for the job. In desperation, Dorsey disguises himself as a woman by the name of "Dorothy Michaels" and wins the part. He uses the money in hopes to raise money to finance his roommates play.
