The Mummy is an action adventure fantasy film about an American in the French Foreign Legion who accidently awakens a mummy. The film is set in 1926 in Cairo. The film begins showing both the backstory of the mummy Imhotep along with the story of Egyptologist Evelyn Carnahan and her brother Jonathan. The two find a map and an intricate box. Jonathan, however, didn't just find it. He stole it from Rick O'Connell, who is currently awaiting a death sentence. The two make a deal that if Rick tells them where Hamunaptra is, they'll save him from hanging. Directed by Stephen Sommers. Starring Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, and John Hannah.
