Quotations from The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance

The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance is a dramatic romance western film about a U.S. Senator who arrives in a small western town to attend a funeral of an apparent nobody. The film continues by showing a flashback of what happened and why he is there. Several decades before, the U.S. Senator Ransom "Rance" Stoddard arrived in Shinbone by stagecoach to create a law practice. However, along the way the stagecoach was held up and the future senator was badly beaten and left for dead. Directed by John Ford. Starring James Stewart, John Wayne, Vera Miles, and Jeanette Nolan.

The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance was nominated for the Oscar award Best Costume Design, Black-and-White and has been preserved by the National Film Registry. The film is most notable for not giving a setting. The only references are a U.S. flag with 38 stars and a Saguaro cactus. Continue reading for some The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance quotes.
