The Islamic Religion: Faith & Quotations
The Islamic Quran, also known as al-Furqaan, al-Kitaab, al-Zikr, al-Noor, al-Huda, Koran or Qu'ran, is made up of 114 chapters, and 6226 verses, and contains 77,701 words made up of 330,113 letters. It is also said the entire Quran on average takes just 12 hours to read.
A common misconception of the Quran is that it was written by Muhammad himself. Infact, the Quran was written after his death. Muhammad was visited by the Angel Gabriel over a twenty-six year period in which he taught the word of Allah. Over this period, some of his words were recorded on leaves or sticks, while others were only written after Muhammad's passing.
