Rocky is a sports drama film about a debt collector a loan shark who is also a club fighter that later has a chance to become the world heavyweight champion of the world in boxing. The film follows the life of Rocky Balboa as he is selected to fight for the title after the original opponent is injured and cannot box. To get ready for the fight, Rocky works with a 1920s-era ex-bantamweight fighter. Directed by John G. Avildsen. Starring Sylvester Stallone, Burgess Meredith, and Talia Shire.

Rocky originally saw only mixed reviews but was later seen for the greatness it is. The film was selected to be preserved in the National Film Registry for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" and won three Oscar awards, including Best Picture and Best Director while being nominated for seven more.
