Poem for the week #2

Category: Non-fiction

Not been a week i know, but i'll be doing this on mondays.

This poem was written by Dylan Thomas for his father who was dying. I think that says enough, i'll let him say the rest.

Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night
Dylan Thomas

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

I believe that's called Poetry.

Beloved is right, why did not anyone think of that...like a long time ago?? *devilish smile* For sure..

Anyway, this is somewhere in my top faves. A poem expressing that death is always inching closer. The helpless feel you get as you continue to grow old. I love this poem..

I agree with mybeloved. It should be published. *snort*

This is actually one of my favorite poems, but I guess that's not really saying much because my list of favorites is pretty long.

Very powerful, very gripping.

It's a poem that certainly makes a statement about its final moments. Quite admirable!
