When is Daddy Coming Home

The light peeked through her window
A loud thud as her feet hit the floor
It was time for daddy to come home
She had to be there at the door

He would always grab her up
Hold her tight and spin around
She would hold his neck so tight
Never wanting him to put her down

But this morning was different
Her mother sat there all alone
She said something bad happened
Your daddy won't be coming home

Quickly she ran to the window
Thinking what is taking him so long
She checked outside until it was dark
Surely her mother had to be wrong

She finally drifted off to sleep
Tonight she left her lamp on
On her night table sat a note
Daddy wake me when you get home
