The Last Time?

You said, "My family are going through
some pretty rough times"
So I'll remember to keep you and those
you love,
in these little prayers of mine.
You said, "This may be the last time
I ever talk to you"
I said, "I really hope that it won't be,
that it wouldn't have to be"
But you probably said what was true.
You said, "Thank you for being such
a good friend to me"
I thought the same things,
but felt so sad for this was to be.
You were my best friend,
though sadly,
time has drifted us apart,
but I hope you know that you'll always
hold a special place in my heart.
