Around me her strong cool arms were curled,
As she sheltered me,
Protected me from the harsh cruel world,
I leaned back into her chest and let out a sigh,
Closed my eyes and willed myself not to cry,
It had been along time since we were together,
I just wanted this moment to last forever,
I whispered to my mum all my thoughts,
Those that were happy, sad, depressing or violent,
She just took them all with a smile and remained calm and silent,
I felt like she was listening to what I had to say,
And that comforting thought blew all my burdens away,
I looked up at the purple streaked setting sky,
And knew that the time had come for me to say goodbye,
I stood up and turned to my mother with a wave,
And slowly walked away from her beautiful grave,
But before I left I turned and read,
The epitaph engraved on the stone head,
“Loved mother and wife and daughter with a smile so sweet”
I know that she will be forever loved my mother, the angel made of concrete.
