Illusion

I once saw a mirage, an illusion of home
And held a wish close to my heart
That my brethren will salvage me from this fate
I once thought I saw a ray of hope
That the bloodshed will end
That the rampaging looting and utter destruction
Will land one last blow
And It'll all be quiet at last.
I watched them take my parents
Away with my siblings
And in my fear I tried to stay alive
I saw the remnants of my friends buried under the rubble
A foot, a shoe, a piece of cloth

I saw a mirage once, an illusion of peace
I watched my family as they were
Blown up to pieces

I close my eyes, and hope the war ends
I take a last breath
And a step closer to my Mother
Who's in Heaven!!
