Love Lost
Family
How sweet and sour
I recall all the happiness
And I want to drown out the bitter
Try as I may
That is all I posses
Not a bone in me
Can feel anything but this
How can we be so fragile?
How can we give in?
To anger and hostility
Hate and insensitivity
How can we
Who have been made to love
Not fulfil that duty
That sets us above?
Where did tolerance go?
When did intolerance surface?
Did we lose our humanity?
How did we let go of civility?
God’s greatest commandment says
Love each other as I love you
God can do it
Can’t we too?
Surely this love applies
Mostly to those who
Have the same blood
As me or you?
Then why do we not love,
When times of ease and of troubles?
Are we so caught up?
Do we not have time to love?
This lack of God’s purest gift
Has led to destruction and damage
As if lightning struck
Bonds are ravaged
Husband and wife
Brother and sister
Mother and child
No longer remembered
Is blood thicker than water?
Is it really saturated?
Or is it diluted?
And unable to survive hatred?
