Don't Let Go

You can wash away the dirt but not the memories,
they're still there, hiding in the back of your head,
haunting you constantly, those words that you said,
you want to erase them, just to move on,
but they choke you, and soon they have won,
you will try to vanish forever, but please don't leave,
don't you kill your life, just cry on my sleeve,
I know this is hard for you to hear,
but those memories, no matter what, they'll never disappear,
it isn't worth it, please don't quit,
stay with me, don't let them hurt you,
I'll save you, I promise,
let me live up to everything I vowed to you,
I'll do everything and anything I have to,
please don't go that far for something that is in your mind,
don't let them have you confined,
We'll go away together one day, but not this one, no,
let's wait for our time together,
just please don't let go.

(I wrote this to be about a
suicide victim, but I've never
really had to go through a
loss like that. This is really
just for my friends, and one
of my family member who did
in fact commit suicide, but I
was too young to remember all
the details. This poem is for
you and anyone who you want
it to be for.)
