Dear Diary,
does the caged bird really sing, in the darkness it calls day?
through all the pain it suffers, because it can't fly away.
it's not its fault it's stuck there, locked up and all alone,
for its owner's fault it is, is his heart made of stone?
or protection does he seek for the bird, so it won't get hurt?
but the bird's self esteem is gone, it feels it's treated like dirt.
the bird can make its own mistakes, that's all part of life,
instead of being caged up, and all because that foolish owner thought that this was right.
owner says he's sorry, he wishes he didn't have to,
but the bird knows he's only scared, it knows what is true.
when the bird's time is up it'll feel wasted and useless,
you should be careful with your time, before the hour is a simple guess
before the bird dies it must repent,
for maybe owner was heaven sent..
the caged bird should not sing, but talk,
and thank owner, because it could've been eaten by that hawk.
the bird still feels alone and worried
and owner gets full of fury,
because the bird tries to escape and be free,
but as for me,
I think owner should let the bird go, and let it a bird and fly,
and not be afraid to say goodbye,
because when the bird is gone, he'll feel bad for entrapping it,
as he should feel guilty a bit.
I have to go, I'm lucky I can,
say goodbye to the bird, goodbye the man,
I wish the bird the best of luck,
and to owner the same,
because the bird's life he made suck,
and the bird may come back for revenge from all the pain.
