Can’t Take The Pain (Another Prayer) 4-28-08
Well Lord, here I am again
Forced to fake a smile for the sake of my friends
“Hiding my heartache…
Will this glass house break?
How much will they take before I’m empty?”
Slowly, my heart breaks
But God, I can’t take the pain.
Crying and bleeding inside
I continue to smile
Even though it hurts me to do so
I continue to cry myself to sleep
And it’s killing me…
The pain cuts deep.
I’m not sure about the source of my pain,
I want it to go away
I inflicted this pain on myself
By my actions, my choices…
In other words, my sins
Call me a prodigal
I’ll take the blame… I’ll take the shame
But Lord, I can’t take the pain.
Will you please take this pain away?
Quote from “The Real Me”, a song sung by Natalie Grant.
