ways of war

you stand there trying not to look like coward
wishing that you and time didn't move forward.
thoughts of loved ones rush through your head
if you stop thinking you might be dead.
friends on your left and friends on your right
hell in war it can last all night.
first all you can hear is your heavy breathing
then you hear your heart beating.
you feel safe in the ruin of the city
your scared and only God knows but he doesn't show pity.
theres a shot off in the distance
men run to building entrance.
you stand alone out in the open
thinking that your life is about to end.
another shot came and you fell to the ground
struggling to get up, yelling all around.
the will to live got you up from the dirt
to stop the bleeding you rip part of your shirt.
thoughts of you playing as a child a game of war
but this is diffrent for there is gore.
running for cover there is a bang
you look at your wounded heart, the noise turn to a rang.
feeling tired you collapse where you were
in war there is no peace and there is no love thats for sure
