Thou In Earnest

Slain by this one selfish act
Smite thy hand is that a fact
Even though I lack the insight of comprehension
What is the true nature of your intention

Speckled rhymes now speak, so now I weep
Why is it now that I must sleep
Beneath the coverings of my keep

Seldom are the deeds of man
Left for them to understand
Outstretched I leave my open hand
And for what, I have no quarrel with you good man

Speak less of me, and my keep
And then I shall no longer have reason to weep
My hand is open and thy heart is full
That doesn’t mean that I am a fool

Thou in earnest have sort me out
Thou in earnest, have cast the shadow of doubt
And with thy hand I have cast you out
There is no need for you to shout
