The Day of the Moon
I call upon the Moon
Oh great unselfish Moon.
The light of the evening
And the prowler of the night.
The Sun’s unknown master
Though blissful pleading
Of midday’s flight
How it hastens faster
From day to night.
I call upon the Moon
Quickening the guidance
Of the student’s flee
From the oceans and seas.
For they are the armies
That lead from ocean to sand
As the wind whispers
Flowing the armies across the land.
I call upon the Moon
For your day comes soon
Where day shall become night
And night shall remain.
Then the Earth’s springs
Shall rejoice in you
As they are blessed with your light
Which shows no shame
While the springs exult and sing
In their deep river blue
That will be your day
The day of the moon.
