Lying flat, where I can see the stars
On my back, where, below, I can see the City's lights
Watch a cloud pass over
Covering the stars
Making the City, somehow, brighter
I see no light above me
Only red, from the City below
There above us, the cloud is past
Below, the City, dimming
Oh! Darkness loves me more than light
Darkness comforts, loves, forgets
The City's lights are shrouded, gone
The stars above, brighter, lighter,
Our hearts below grow closer, longer
Rocks, crashing rain and wind, can you feel, can you discern the City?
To attack, to haunt, to cleanse, to change
Your purpose, it is not light
But light, indeed, the City is glowing
By rain, cleansing what was a hidden drought, the City, it's growing
Red light, artificial, unnatural, changed
Starlight, clean, blue, unchanged
Hope is hidden, void of love
Hearts are stricken, what minds foretold
Feeling, here? Inside my heart? There is none, only flesh...
Lighting, fighting, hiding, the clouds are here again
The City's light is brighter
Brighter!
The City's light is out
And out of a city, out of its fount, a smokestack, an artificial cloud
Smoke has come, change has come. The City is gone. There are no lights here, only smoke, dust, a desert, a stream.
Only Maya, and the one she loves
