Running from the Past

Running far, Running fast
Away from the world-
Away from the past

What I would give
To be someone else-
to finally
Be able to live

To break this chains,
That hold me fast
Wishing if only,
dreams could last

If only I could raise my voice
And say what my heart desires
If only I had the courage
To fight the raging fire

A whisper in the silence,
To calm my aching heart
A gentle word,
But something so loudly heard

If only there was a place
To truly be myself
No worries, No regrets
And if only it would last,
maybe someday,
I could forget the past.
