On the Night of Halloween

Full-faced moon is shining down with light,
Clouds of gray brush across its face tonight,
Telling the tales of,
Figures in the ground,
Walking softly on the earth,
Barely making a sound,

Leaves begin to fall, their spirits move on,
Figures feel the same even though they're dead and gone,
Children help them live,
Speaking to them through disguise,
Streets and roads with souls,
Right before our very eyes,

Lighting the wick,
Clocks continue to tick,
Counting down the moments,
Until we're due to scream,
Treats go all around,
Hearing nothing but the sound,
Happy spirits dancing on,
Happy children dancing on,
No matter if you're young,
Or if you're seeing years of teen,
Anyone can be surprised,
On the night of Halloween.
