Love's Admonition
Save awareness for later.
These sensory warnings compensate a traitor.
Love makes an old dog act foolhardy.
Love makes reflexes tardy.
The scariest element is its stupor,
Fumbling like a shell-shocked trooper,
And it is twice as hard as before to regroup
When running in a loop.
Strangely, love is easier unrequited,
But inhospitable when invited.
To be in its spell, unwittingly gripped,
Love is like a drink slipped.
