I analyze the same wooden floor for inspiration every day, bathed in fluorescent lighting
Stale almonds
Stale everything
Stale me.
My prescription isn’t strong enough
I can’t see
The farther away I stare
The more blurry the glare
I’m all words
Words and lack of emotion
Words and this stomach ache
Making me wish only to discover what I need
I rely on the sighs to get me by
I rhyme if only to pass the time
All I know is poetry
All I knew was poetry and you
The page isn’t so blank now
The edges are crinkled
It’s just asking to be crumpled
I long to start anew
But I’m too attached to this work
Too attached to this life
I’m too attached to you
I could use some crystallized ginger and electricity.
