I am held in High revere
While my own life, I cannot steer
I stand in the hall of gratuitous praise
yet my standard still has not been raised
I'm told I'm great, that I do good work
While my real duties I always shirk
People think I'm such a good kid
But evil spirits I cannot rid
They say my example is surely great
But the path I'm on is far from straight
I try to be good, I study and pray
But the clouds over head are always gray
I try to do that which is right and true
These horrible sins, they stick like glue
What to do now, I already know
While I'm quick to sin, to obey I'm slow
By Christ my sins are already borne
He was mocked, and beat, and laughed to scorn
Now its in Him, with whom I must trust
For surely I am lower than dust
His hand is out, ready to take
It's up to me, these sins to shake
