Behold, the day of social birth,
The second coming of Planet Earth.
It thrusts us into this Society,
And we meet a disheartening Reality.
Nothing has changed, its all the same:
"Lets all play the Politically Correct game,
Everyone stay in your single file line,
Everything will be just fine."
"Don't take a step, don't be unique,
Or the Government will have to critique,
There's no use fighting, just give in
And things will be the way they should have been."
Same old lies, same old truths,
Same old liars, same old sleuths.
Same old rich, same old poor
Giving less and taking more.
Talks of Recession speed up Depression,
"Shhh! Don't say the R-word!"
The Government itself doesn't know what to do!
"Of course they do! They have to know!"
They are too afraid to make a confession,
"Confession for what?"
That at this point it could be better run by me and you!
We're spending money we don't have,
And people are loosing their lives in war,
But the Government trudges on and on,
As we sit back and ask ourselves, "What the hell are we fighting for?!"
"Are we really winning?
Is this worth the cost of so much, so many?
What's the outcome going to be,
Yet another Pyrrhic victory?"
Who's to say, who's to know,
The Leaders seem to think they do.
But when they realize they'll never show,
But they won't have to.
They'll hide their knowledge to save us from panic,
They'll think that they're so very clever,
But us people, we'll be living it, we'll already know,
And to survive, we'll have no choice but to sever,
Sever the ties to the ones who were supposed to keep us safe,
The ones that we were supposed to be able to trust,
But became blind with their increase in power,
And ended up becoming the very thing it was supposed to protect us from...
They say that every great civilization has it's rise,
And has it's fall.
We've been rising for years,
Maybe we're meeting our curtain call?
It seems likely, we've been overdue,
Maybe this is what we need.
To get things going in the right track,
And stop all of this pointless greed.
The world has already realized,
That the US of A isn't that great.
We're not the country we used to be,
And we are finally meeting out ill fortuned fate.
"What an article that was," said one man to the other before taking another puff from his pipe.
"More like what a load of nonsense," said the other with a sigh.
"Like this country needs another person screaming the proverbial,
'We're all gonna die!'"
