Shadow Angel

You follow afar
Always watching and waiting,
Keeping an eye on her.

She does not know you are there
But she knows she is safe,
Never really knowing why.

At times you think she see's you,
At times you think she will find out,
But she doesn't,
She keeps following her path
Knowing that she will always be safe.

You worry when she cries
And hold her when she hurts
You try and make her feel better,
But know that you can't always interfere.

Instead you stay by her side
Making sure she stays safe.
You wait for the day
When you can finally reveal yourself to her.

As time passes
And she grows older
You stay by her side and wait patiently.

The day comes when shey says goodbye to her world,
You are waiting right there for her.
She lifts up and see's you waiting
Her image of youth returns.

She stares at you with a smile
As a single tear runs down her face.
You embrace her softly and welcome her home.

All she can manage is one line,
"Thank you my shadow angel."
