Return to the Grotto
I’m not myself when apart from you
Brought to my knees in frailty
I claw and tear to bring you back
But freeze to feel void in your stead
Left with only false stability
A worried mind rapidly pulses
Questions of ‘if’ and of ‘why’
Saturating my fearful thoughts
Answered only in your return
Silencing the doubt and fear
Like the landing of ship at dock
Your homecoming, my soul’s return
I’m carried under guard to haven
Kept under your protected shelter
No other received behind the curtain
You enforce the gate to our grotto
Where love is the solitary law
