Measurements and Laughter

Count our time together with smiles and laughter
For human devices can only tick and tock idly
Unrelentingly failing to counter the beating of two hearts in love,
Like a hollow rhythm to the perfect song.
Measure love not by opinions or falsities
But by the sheer perfection you see in their flaws,
And the ability to stand on your own, isolated,
While making the choice not to do so.
Time is too often wasted
By those who don't know love
Struggling futilely against the unrelenting pressures of society,
Struggling alone in a world of sin.
So why risk missing the best in life,
That which makes us whole?
Give love rather than hatred
And see what you receive in return...
For who wants a gravestone carved with hollow words,
Speaking of the kindness you never had?
So be one less person with undeserved admiration,
Prove yourself in a time full of complexity.

Nice to "give love rather than hatred". And I've always been trying this.
