Four Words
For so long, I had felt alone,
beaten, crying, out in the cold,
how could someone say they love me and go?
Twisted my heart,
turned me into something unknown,
I became what hurt me,
an abuser of most,
like a parasite jumping,
from host to host,
until it enveloped,
and changed who I was,
I lost myself,
forgot how to love.
Then they came,
two girls not one,
in to my life,
oh how my world spun.
Mother and daughter,
the old me recoiled,
don't want a family,
relationship spoiled.
Four words to change me,
simple and pure,
four words that saved me,
made me secure,
"I love you" so simple,
that's what three of them were,
the fourth one was "Daddy"
and it shook me to the core.
Fairytale endings are fake,
so I won't give you that speech,
but happy new begginings are real,
and it lays right at my feet.
Now I have a family,
in which I love to be,
so I write now in remembrance,
of the four words that changed me.
