Empathy

My heart wishes to leap out from my chest,
I sit alone, tormented by unrest.
My mind races, beginning to unravel,
These thoughts, the wisest of men, would baffle.
My struggle you could never understand,
Daily I see lives bleeding in my hand.
Did I give good advice, was I right?
Will I be able to sleep tonight?
Solitary, I Look for what is true,
Every avenue leading to you.
Do You feel the way that I do?
With closed eyes I still see you.
I hear you cry from across the country,
As though my heart puts you right in front of me.
Your pain slowly brings me down,
From this empathy I may soon drown.
There is but one hope for you and me,
In a dream it's with you I see.
Our salvation is to be together,
The world will be ours forever.
