Don't Leave Me
Candles flickered in the dark stone room, circling us.
Your cold body lay upon the floor.
Your hair splayed out, your eyes shut.
I tried to reach out to you.
They walked around us, dark robes swaying.
Their chants grew louder.
Your life was slipping away.
My love, my life, don’t leave me, I beg you.
I stumbled forth and fell upon my knees.
I grasped your hand and my tears fell upon your face.
For your life I prayed.
Beloved, do not leave me all alone.
