A Rose In My Pocket
Today I learned, I had a rose in my pocket
And you will forever be in my heart shaped locket
The beauty that illuminates the two is increasingly the same
My obsession that consumes me is anything but tame
Wanting to keep my rose safe, I ran to you
Knowing it was the rose and not I you would give much ado
You feel not the power you contain
Keeping my rose safe from all the potential pain
I want to stop on this silent night
And be reassured that it will be all right
Stroking back my hair and looking me in the eye
I realize I will never have to say goodbye
