A promise is a promise,
And maybe I just trust too easy,
But when they promise not to cheat,
I think they won’t be sleazy.
A promise is a promise I hope,
‘I’m not like them’, they all have said,
But heartbreak after heartbreak they proved themselves wrong,
And left my heart with dread.
I hope that you are different,
