Drug Dealers and Drive Bys
Cause pain and tears in eyes
I walk the streets with my head held high
With a single question in my mind
Why?
Why are bullets flying over heads
more than birds
Why are battles spilling over into ghettos and suburbs
Why are there more metal detectors in schools than books
Why are there less Doctors than crooks
Why are babies born already addicted to crack
Why are there crooked preachers
Stealing from the offering bowl and adding to their own money stacks
I can ask these questions all day and night
However I'll never get an answer that's just right
Because I see what other's don't want to see
Our world is like a boat about to be swallowed by the sea
The sea of hate because we cant get along
Cant let our relationship build and become strong
We all right everone else is wrong
Thats our mentality as we bang the Hatred Gong
I sit in the alleyways
where machine guns spray
Where Grandmothers pray
that their grandchildren will see the next day
I wade through the rivers of blood of gang violence and hate
I's not only in Cali or New York but in every single state
We'll kill ourselves off if we keep going at this rate
And though I'm called a Ghetto Thug I stand tall
Knowing I can't fall
Because as Ghetto as I am
I want peace in my life
for me and my wife
How ironic it is you kill in the name of a god
Who is suppossed to love all as thick as Cape Cods fog
Why is it in the name of God
people are condemned
If they made a mistake
churches turn their backs on them
Where is the love and compassion
We're hoarding it all like rations
I can swim in the tears of the mothers of children
killed in the parks
Ten year old kids are done
Before they ever start
I feel the flames of hate in Racism in the earth
It's burns me like a raging open hearth
And as I walk the streets of pain,
I hear someone calling my name
I turn my head and see
A teen behind a gate looking at me, pleading to me,
'I'm sorry, Tell my mom I love her!' He screams
Why do I see all of this?
Am I cursed
To walk through truth
until my last ride in a hearse
So many tears have been shed
for so many years
So many people filled with some many fears
Why has our world become a free for all
Because we allowed all of our values to fall
And those who have been chosen to lead, have ignored the call
But I'll stand tall
For you all
These are the things I see from my eyes
Hopefully I'll see the world Relize
The darkened skies
Hear the Raging cries
And hopefully someone else will begin to ask
WHY?
