Hymn to the fallen

My attends to you as a mother fears while her children sleep
Now look, see how they're dreaming
The black reciteries, while the children dream
Don't go so deep in slumber
Where you'll shy
Know you'll wander in sleep
Don't you fly too far away
Some men die without crying
Suffering so long and alone
Softly, children, dry your eyes
Gently, children, be wise
My attends to you as a mother hears all her children's fears
So don't cry, all will wash away when we pray
Soon, soon
So if it's okay, i'll wait with you while the sun began to shine
Oh look, your wings are broken
But never a lie was spoken
The murdered thing is love, you see
Drifting on a lake of memory
Now sleep, close your eyes and have no fear
A wide blue sky is very near
Soon, soon
Now sleep, close your eyes and have no fear
A wide blue sky is very near

This is a piece I feel many here need. It is not my work but in song has brought me to a cleansing weep time and time again.

If only all parents had such maternal or paternal drives as a song has on paper/voice. I think they all do just sometimes parents forget that their life ended the moment they created another. Or they created a child and forgot to grow up first...

My life began when i had my children, i think i forgot to grow up first though, but hey I'm still growing, but with them.

From my view I am sure your children are in blessings with you.

wow, you're very talented.
Thanks so much for all of the comments you've given me on my work. I really appreciate it! I haven't been on here for awhile, most of my poems have to do with an ex i still can't get over and I think I needed a break from the only way I was still keeping him and my feelings about him alive in my life. So I stopped writing for awhile...

It's what my mom said to me before she died when I told her not to leave me, that I still needed to be near her, she said, "Soon, LorLor, Soon". It's beautiful whether you wrote it or not, thanks for sharing it and bringing me to tears I needed to release.Smiley

I invite you to copy and paste link above and listen to the singing of the words. I do not know what kind of computer you have but if the speakers are good you can hear the person who taped the video crying as she recorded it. I can not get enough of this piece. Thanks for sharing your experience related to the piece. Again, I humbly thank you.

I wish I could write like that too! This is a Dead Can Dance/Lisa Gerrard piece. Lisa and Brendan studied Poetry for years while making music.

May I ask your advice on something... poet to poet?
Comment by DeVdoll343: Jun 6, 2007 3:05 pm
May I ask your advice on something... poet to poet?... what do you do, when the sadness and emotion you are holding onto is what drives you creativly. I've never written, painted, acted or drawn better than when I'm in pain. What's up with this? Now I have a new boyfriend.. yet I still reminiss about my old one. nobody has been able to replace him. And the only people that know this are the ones that read my poetry. See rebound.. that describes how I feel right now better than the others.

hey,DeVdol:i don't even claim 2 know you, yet(i will,i promise),but you have been given a secret; a secret that the great poets, martyrs, and mystics of our aeons have left with us...some facets of our own inner beauty will only be birthed by intense(not always physical, but always very personal) suffering.this means, the more you experience loss or sorrow, the deeper you will feel it.it, as if it becomes a living breathing entity, demands and reaches for release in some form.for some of us,we discover the wonder of art. i have learned,my love for words themselves, combined with my childhood and ongoing adulthood trauma, result in a passion this world cannot inspire.congratulations,dev..seems like you have been drafted.welcome...mysterianne'

p.s. my daughter's real name is "Devra" nickname "Dev"
that automatically made you special...
