Empoverished Promises

I sat alone and sang a song
Of bitter notes seemingly wrong
Tone deaf memories held too long
Flattened, sharpened, melodically strong

I sat alone and wrote a lyric
Completely cynical, yet satiric
Ebbing, flowing, rolling slick
Wild concepts stratospheric

I sat alone and penned a tale
Saturated by gallons of bitter ale
Of broken hearts, oh so frail
A deep release after long inhale

I sat alone and closed my eyes
And floated out upon soft skies
Free from burdens of deceitful guise
Free from quick witted improvise

I was alone and gazed upon
A perfect portrait carefully drawn
With all sorrows ages foregone
And balance perfect as perigon

And I sat alone all the while
Dispersed in euphoric guile
Upon a peaceful tropical isle
Peaceful, content, with constant smile

Yes! Writing is so freeing for what troubles our souls, isn't it? Really good poem. Smiley
