An Apostrophe To Nature

There is a feeling society’s monotony brings,
a feeling of helplessness and imprisonment.
Feathers float on the breeze from clipped wings.
Vote hungry rich boys enact political torment.
They won’t stop until the world’s wealth is spent.
Industries boom as the sylvan mother slowly dies.
I love my country, but to lose the Earth, I lament.
I am but one person but I can influence and advise.
I wont give up, for I shed tears as heaven cries.

How shall we view the twinkling of the stars
Through a haze of human induced pollution?
Who shall mend the many gaping holes and scars
If in destroying nature we bring about our execution?
Will Mother Earth be left alone to find a resolution?
I for one enjoy the serenity found in the reflectivity
of a crystalline lake, of its peaceful placid distribution.
Away from the dangers of man’s negativity
nature’s beauty flourishes and holds me in captivity.

Too many people take the Earth for granted
and then ignore its desperate cries for assistance.
Too many people uproot what’s already been planted
and put nothing back to help retain consistence.
When you’re being beaten down it’s hard to form subsistence.
If your body was being ravaged by disease,
if the ground was poison and you had no resistance
to it slowly seeping into your feet and up your knees,
wouldn’t you want someone to help put you at ease?

I don’t know how to repair the damage that’s been done,
but I know that doing nothing won’t help at all.
I don’t know if we can win forgiveness from the sun.
But the first step is taking some action, however small.
If we work together we can free nature from its thrall.
From cleaning a ditch to implementing recycling bins.
Anything we can do to help nature’s beauty to recall.
I feel as if the Earth’s patience is starting to thin.
So we must work quickly to avoid taking it on the chin.

I wonder if it’d be better if man and nature didn’t coexist.
But that could not be, because with nature we’re connected.
For this, man should have respect and help assist.
Not lace the oceans with oil and leave the Earth neglected.
How is it right to leave your own creator dejected?
Maybe we’ll come to our senses and we will realize
that we must help the Earth, for it can’t be resurrected.
I am but one person but I can influence and advise.
I wont give up, for I shed tears as heaven cries.
