Helping Not Hurting

They say that relying on others is weak,
That you must fight on to atone.
But I know I need you by my side,
I cannot go on alone.

You say that you are hurting me,
But that really isn't true.
In truth you help me every day,
I smile when I think of you.

I know I can seem distant, cold,
Ungrateful, harsh and cruel.
But I take great strength from your love,
Even when I act the fool.

Please don't think you damage me,
It's simply not the case.
You heal the holes in my soul,
Your love fills up the space.

I will never ever leave your side,
I hope you'll stay by mine.
We can help each other on this journey
through our lives and time.

Have faith in me, my closest friend,
As I have faith in you,
I carry you deep inside my heart,
And in all I say and do.

I hope that you believe these words,
I hope that you can see,
You help more than you'll ever know,
You could never ever hurt me.
