The Beast That Comes

A fight to the death
For one of us at least
Myself short of breath
Unfailing is the beast

Eyes black as night
Staring hard and deep
Death in my sight
My reward to reap

Breath as rotting flesh
Breaths hard appon my being
My soul to now enmesh
With wishful thoughts of fleeing

My time this day draws near
My death soon will i hear

This has to be one of my favorites of the day, and absolutely perfect poem. The only thing I would have changed would be that the last 2 lines were made into a stanza like the rest with 4 lines, but brilliant none the less.
