Nightmare

And so it began,
in a dark alley,
where it's damp and cold,
nothing like the green valley.

Two men are there,
on one each side of me,
they both are quiet,
and it's difficult to see.

The taller man is in a gray trench coat,
with fingers holding a stake,
The other man is in a wheelchair,
asking us to take a break.

The man in the wheelchair,
had led us here,
claiming he saw a trail of blood,
and evil lurking near.

I ask the taller man,
if there's anything he found,
there is silence and then he nods,
saying we need to get to higher ground.

The man in the wheelchair,
has left this place,
scared out of his wits,
when we discover bloody torn lace.

I know a woman died here,
seems she put up a fight,
then we see her blood drained body,
which was hard to see in this moonlight.

The tall man checks her pulse,
he shakes his head and sighs,
The man turns to face me,
and he looks into my eyes.

His face is quite emotionless,,
but his eyes say it all,
The longing and the sorrow are so familiar,
it feels as if I might fall.

There is something about this man,
that I just happen to know,
and as he takes my hand and leads me away from the body,
the question keeps nagging me so.

As we climb the metal staircase,
I hear a bone chilling sound,
there is a monster with a blood filled mouth,
watching us as it crouches to the ground.

The man said "get behind me",
so that he and the monster could fight,
The monster pounced and pushed the man off the stairs,
And I didn't have time to see if he was alright.

The monster was drawing near me,
red eyes and long ivory fangs,
I fear for my life right now,
until I hear a couple bangs.

The tall man is alright I thought,
he was trying to save me,
but bullets won't kill the monster,
and there was no wood where I could see.

"Catch!" The man called,
throwing me a piece of wood,
and when the monster had its back turned,
I staked it as hard as I could.

The monster fell off the stairs,
and landed with the thud of a heavy bull,
but with its last breath,
it wanted to dual.

The man staked the monster one last time,
and there the monster finally died,
when the tall man looked up at me,
I broke down with fear and cried.

But on my way down the stairs,
I was pushed down to the ground,
falling and falling very fast I fell,
though the terrified yell of the man was the last sound.
