Death's Syrup
I bid adieu to the sun,
Wave from my window
And sip more of Death’s Syrup.
A vile concoction,
Sour and bitter,
Sweet and decayed;
A taste of hell;
A taste of death.
Ah, sunset, the death of another day;
This is my way of coping.
It fizzes in my mouth before oozing down my throat:
Sticky, warm,
Like fresh blood only sweeter.
Soon it shall take some of my life;
Such is the nature of Death’s Syrup.
This is my way of mourning
All that has been lost
On this dismal day.
Red, grey, green, black;
The colors flash before my eyes
As I step
Between the boundaries of living and dead.
The pained thoughts swim around me
Fading in and out of sight.
Will someone find me this time?
Would they want to?
…Who would care to stop me?
I drain my glass;
Skeletal hands close around my arms.
Flames draw closer;
They smother me and I am gone.
