Come to the Edge

"Come to the edge," he said.
"We are afraid," they replied.
"Come to the edge," he said.
"We may fall," they replied.
"Come to the edge!" he demanded.
They came. He pushed them.

And they fell a very, very long way.
He watched them splat.
"Maybe next time," he said.
