Why Didn't I

Why Didn't I try a little harder,
And do the small things you asked.
Then maybe I wouldn't barter,
If this new girl was worth losing my past.

She makes me laugh and smile the same,
But nothing is similar to you.
Because if everything was truly the same,
Then I wouldn't be missing you.

If only I had told you I loved you more,
Or perhaps just talked to you more at night.
Then perhaps my heart wouldn't feel so empty,
And I wouldn't have this blurry sight.

Tears streaming, from my heart and eyes,
The incessant question covered with cries.
Yet still I can't get over,
Why Didn't I?

I do enjoy the honesty in this poem. So sad, and I can relate. I made a few made decisions when it came to picking between two guys. Nice write.
