Why
Why would you lift me up so high?
Then let me fall to the ground
To lay in a shattered heap of broken and twisted thought as the days go by.
Why did you touch my heart
and give it warmth and hope?
Then leave it cold and lifeless in the dirt to forever try to cope.
Why would you fill my heart with love so sweet?
Just to tear it from my chest to lay beating at your feet.
Why did you not just pass me by and leave me in my misery?
Why can you not see how much you have come to be to me.
Why do you dig my grave so shallow in the hardness of your heart?
Why do you want my love from me to ever part.
Why would you save my soul from the darkness and the cold?
You should have left it there to rot and grow old.
Why do I fear that this is what you are about to do?
