To Bendy

To have loved and lost
is to have known both joy and sorrow.
To have never loved at all would be a great cost.
The love of my life
is as real to me today as she was 42 years ago.
We met again to reminise.
Her beauty after all these years still lights her face with a glow.
I shall ne'er forget after 42 years.......... a kiss.
I have died a thousand deaths.
after a brief time of rendevous,
She now leaves me in pain.
The tease of her touch,
the taste of her lips.
Now all my days I feel it will rain.
What could have been is now gone and past.
She says she truly loves me, but I know it won't last.
Get on with your life, your family and man.
I will get on with mine if can.
Our time is probably gone forever,
but will I stop loving you?
Never.
I hurt more than you will ever understand.
To have held you again,
and feel like I was really your man.
It has been a little slice of heaven for me,
but it shall never be.
So just turn away being so pretty.
But never my love, do I want pity.
