The Girl

What happened to the girl I knew?
What happened to the girl;
With the spark in her step?
With the fierce independence?
What happened to that fighter?
I look at her now
Her face is tear-stained
Her strut taken form her
Her head cast down
What happened to the girl
Who said," Never accept defeat!"
When did she become SO defeated?
She used to stand so strong
What knocked her down?
Will she ever come back?
She seems so distant and far away
Will I ever come back...
