Life should be simpler as we age
Take each day as another page
In the book of life that we all read
Knowing the basics of life that we need.
Our bodies are fed by the food that we eat
Sometimes sour and sometimes sweet.
The taste we choose will not last long
Try something else, the taste will be gone.
We nurture our bodies and treat them well
Trying to raise the heavy dumbell
Stretching and lifting and going a mile
Feeling all the time it is worthwhile.
Go out shopping for something to wear,
Have something different done to your hair,
Go to the Spa, be pampered for the day,
Get on the scales to see what you weigh.
Put on some make up, spray on some perfume
Feel like a rose about to bloom.
What is this thing lurking in your soul
Making you realise you have no control.
Look in the mirror but a stranger is there,
Why does that face wear an empty stare?
Outside things look as they really should
But inside the feelings are not so good.
Why are you so lonely and insecure,
Why do you never feel happy and sure
That you are loved whatever you do,
That you have someone faithful and true?
The outside is easier to repair
Get your nails done, buy something to wear.
Are your efforts to feel good worthwhile?
No one will guess, just put on a smile.

Great rhyme scheme dear.
I usually hate long poems, but this is fantastic.
