Once My Best Friend

there once was this boy, who filled my heart with joy
he touched my heart in away no else could
who would make me smile with out even trying
who was there for me, with out any hesitation
he'd wipe the tears that dripped from my eyes
pick me up when times were tough
when the weeks we were apart
he'd never pass up a time when we could be together
the moments with him were like no other
in his arms you could never feel so special
a long time ago, i had a best friend
the type you make a promise to
and the type you keep that promise no matter what
he loved me in a way no one else could possibly imagine
his heart belonged to me as mine belong to him
even through all the pain, we found ways to make it
but now it is becoming to much for our hearts to take
and maybe what we need is a little break
my heart aches, while my eyes burn
and my stomach turns
i want to be the one he feels he deserves
i want to be the one who is worth fighting for
i want to be the only girl that matters
but most of all i want to be his best friend...once more
we were once happy, but now we are hurting
i don't know what it is happening
and it is driving me insane
to watch my best friend slip past me
if only it was done a little differently
then maybe our friendship would not be fading
maybe it will work, oh do i hope it will
because i can promise you this
i will stop never loving you <3
