I Will Be Strong

I try not to think about you
Where you are...
What you're doing...
And I wonder
Do you ever think about me?
Do you miss me like I miss you?

I feel so alone
But I tell myself
I'll get through this,
Be strong.
I've been through worse.
Things will get better.
It'll only take time.

But when I'm alone...
My mind wanders.

Memories of you and our time together.
Laughter and loving..
The good times and bad...
Thinking and wishing.

If only I had been the woman you needed...
The woman you wanted...
The woman you loved.

But I realize...
I have to let go and move on with my life.
And that's the hardest part...
Letting go.

Not seeing your face when I get up in the morning,
Not making love with you at night.
Not spending time with you or working side by side
Not hearing your laughter
Or the sound of your voice.

I will always hold these memories in my heart
And treasure the time we had together
But I will move on with my life
And I will be strong.
